A gentle reminder!

In case your PLs have not informed you...

1) There will be NO guides session this Thursday due to Health Week.

2) We will be having an extended guides session this Saturday (28 Aug) for farewell prep, 9.30AM-11.00AM! Gather at the Amphitheatre by 9.25AM. Some patrols may need to stay back later if their PLs request them to.

Cheers!

Volunteers, anybody? ;)

UPDATE: Hooray! We've already gotten the names of 6 volunteers. Your enthusiasm is greatly appreciated :)

They are:

1) Vu Minh Phuong

2) Nguyen Phuong Anh

3) Kow Zi Shan

4) Tham Jing Hui

5) Nguyen Hoa My

6) Isabel Tan

Howdy guides!

The Teacher's Day Organizing Committee needs 6 guides to help out backstage during Teacher's Day, so anyone who's interested please leave your name in the cbox (located on the left side of the blog) by Wednesday! I think you should be getting CIP hours (I will confirm soon).

There will be a Teacher's Day Rehearsal next Friday (27 Aug) from 3pm to about 5pm, so the 6 volunteers would have to attend that one as well :)

Teacher's Day will be celebrated on the 31st of August.

For those who don't wish to do it alone, why not get your fellow guide-mates to join you hmm?Sec 1s are strongly encouraged to sign up because it does give you great exposure, moreover, most of the sec 2/3s have inter-CCA captain's ball and water soccer on 27th Aug and may not be able to make it.

Please don't make us choose the volunteers! Think about the guiding spirit! :)

Jenny

Minstrel Badge guidelines ♪♫

Howdy guides,

For those who are musically inclined (and have a certificate of at least grade 4 to prove), you might want to consider this proficiency badge. Unfortunately, this isn't the right badge for me, the recorder being the only musical instrument I play... Or used to, anyway. *sigh*

To attain the minstrel badge, you have to:
1) Play the national anthem (If you need the score sheet, please leave your email address in the cbox and I'll email it to you since Blogger doesn't allow me to upload! Grrrr)

2) Play 2 contrasting pieces (classical and modern)

3) As I've said earlier, have a certificate of grade 4 and above ;)

A very good choice for Sec 1s to consider, since it's pretty straight forward! I would've done it if I was a) in Secondary 1 and b) am musically inclined.

Cheers! I hope everyone had fun today!

Love
Jenny

Hey Marching Contingent! (Plus Janice and Tze Yi)

WELL, GREAT JOB ON FRIDAY! Even though I didn’t see you guys march, I know it was a job well done :)

ANYWAY, I am so sorry that this is so late, so you guys get a special post (unlike Val’s! VAL IF YOU SEE THIS NO HARD FEELINGS OK! :D) instead of me writing this on the tag board. Yeah I know everyone says they were late in wishing you guys, but I guess I’m the latest? D:

Oh well, do forgive me :) You guys did a fantastic job. Please don’t give me a reason to scream in the future… I always have to down so many lozenges after that >.> But thanks in advance cos I know you guys are gonna give it all the more the next time round :D

P.S. Marching contingent, you made an improvement in the afternoon :)

Hello marching contingent!

Don't be put off by today's performance! We all know how much effort you guys put in and as for the performance, it's up to you guys to put up the show! (: Just as long as you guys have been practising with the right attitude, and you are willing to cooperate with your leaders, i'm sure the marching should turn out fine. The leaders hope that from today's experience, you guys would have learnt something and improve your marching in due time for friday! Don't be complacent as there is always room for improvement! (:

A few things to note:
- please don't slouch or look sleepy on the track. look sharp! don't look down at the ground either, try to look up at the flags on the steps infront.
- be alert to commands!
- remember to sing the sch song and say the pledge! everybody is watching you!
- when marching, KEEP IN YOUR ROWS!
- DON'T DRAG YOUR FEET and STRAIGHTEN YOUR ARMS!
- timers please time loudly and clearly!
- remember to tie your laces tight and pin up your fringe before marching!

That should be about everything that you guys need to be reminded for. All the best for friday yeah! DO YOUR LEADERS AND GUIDES PROUD! (:

LOVE,
Mei En

Guides Program (5 August)

Dear Guides,

This coming Thursday most of our activities revolve around the upcoming National Day Thingy (its not NDP, technically right), so nothing special this week. Plus, we've received an email from a teacher in charge that our wood behind the guides room poses as a fire hazard, and encourages breeding of termites (sounds pretty awful hmm, remember what happened to the wooden box inside the room?), thats why its our responsibility to tidy things up! Here's the program:
